DH WorldCup courses today are steep technical monsters with ever-changing conditions. The pros always need a tire that can handle dry, loose and extended turns as well as mud. The shorty is such a tire. A large carcass makes it versatile. Large, high and slightly staggered side tunnels penetrate loose ground and ensure predictable passage through curves at the speed of light. In the middle, two types of profiles alternate, rectangular and square lugs, for super traction in braking and excellent self-cleaning.
Wide Trail Casing (WT)
This special carcass design optimizes the profile layout and tire shape on today’s wider wheel rims. Traditional tires are designed for narrow rims and get on square wheels too angular shape and thus not exactly optimal performance.
WT tires are optimized for an inner rim width of 35 mm, but work perfectly on all rims with an internal dimension between 30 and 40 mm.
Tubeless Ready (TR)
tube loose tires have many advantages: you can drive with less air pressure. This gives better traction and reduces rolling resistance. And where there is no tube , the breakdown risk also decreases. MAXXIS TR tires are better prepared for installation with sealant than other “tubeless ready” tires. The bead of our TR tire is like a real UST tube tackle completely coated with a rubber layer. As a result, tube assembly on all rims with standard dimensions is already successful on initial inflation and with little liquid.
Even “normal” MAXXIS MTB tires can be mounted like other Tubeless tires with sealant as the carcass fabrics are very dense.
Officially released for tubeless assembly and guaranteed by MAXXIS are only the new MAXXIS TR models. Tubeless mounting of other models is at your own risk.
Note: We strongly advise against using ammonia-containing sealant. Ammonia has been shown to attack the carcass and, depending on the amount used, can weaken it by up to 30% after only a few months.
Dual Ply Casing
Two combined layers of fabric are wrapped around bead cores. This is an extremely stable and safe carcass is achieved, which is particularly necessary for downhill. On the side walls this is four-ply and on the treads even six-ply.
3C MaxxTerra
3C MaxxTerra is the best three-ply rubber compound for our Enduro and Freeride tires. Smooth running uphill, and best grip downhill, characterize this mixture as well as a long life.
